Sheldon: I really did think you looked pretty.Amy: You did?Sheldon: Yes. So much so that I started to panic.Amy: Well you can relax. Just because you think I look pretty doesn't mean we have to spend the night together.Sheldon: Were you hoping we would because it's prom?Amy: I'm always hoping. But tonight, I just wanted to have a nice time with you. Maybe dance with someone who has arms.

Amy and Bernadette arrive at Penny's apartment and find her old prom dress. As the girls discuss the less than memorable proms of their past, they decide to throw a new prom and invite the guys in their lives. Penny is unsure on the idea but when Leonard mentions that it would be a dream come true to go to a prom with a girl as beautiful as Penny, she feels she can't blow this prom off.

As Bernadette discusses the prom with Howard in their apartment, they're both curious that Stuart is down as taking a plus one, and they fear it's Mrs. Wolowitz. When Howard phones Stuart, he reveals he is not taking Howard's mom to the prom. Elsewhere, Sheldon seeks advice from Penny about the prom as both of them are uncomfortable with the idea. Sheldon has the idea to pretend to be an alien to make the experience more acceptable, though Penny doesn't seem impressed. When Penny asks Sheldon if he's planning any post-prom mating rituals, Sheldon is shocked to hear of such a thing. He admits, as an alien, that he has urges and would copulate with Amy by her "firing her eggs into space" and him catching "them with the reproductive sac on my upper flermin."

Back in Leonard and Sheldon's apartment, the guys are getting ready for the prom with Leonard putting Sheldon's tie on for him. Sheldon admits he wants his first prom to go correctly and says he won't be pretending to be an alien as everybody else thought it would be weird. Sheldon says he's decided to embrace all traditions associated with prom. When Leonard raises the question of after-prom intercourse, Sheldon is surprised to hear it's a real thing, though Leonard tells him he's just joking.

Leonard and Sheldon go pick up Penny and Amy from Penny's apartment. Sheldon is overcome with fear and says he can't go through with the prom. Elsewhere, Raj and Emily, Howard and Bernadette are in the limo and are going to pick up Stuart and his date. Howard is shocked to recognize Stuart's date as his cousin Jeanie - the very one with whom he lost his virginity.

Amy knocks on Sheldon's bedroom door to talk to him about prom. Sheldon tells her that he's having an anxiety attack and admits his main fear is that she's expecting them to have sex tonight. Back in the limo, Stuart is discussing how he met Jeanie - complete with numerous Yiddish words. Bernadette takes Howard's side and berates Stuart for starting another inappropriate relationship with one of Howard's family members. On the roof at the apartment, Penny and Leonard share a dance. Still in the limo, Howard is physically fighting Stuart.

Standing outside Sheldon's bedroom door, Amy pushes Sheldon by saying she's not missing another prom and is going to go upstairs now. Sheldon opens the door to say he really did think Amy looked pretty, so much so that he started to panic. Amy reassures him that just because he thinks she looks pretty, it doesn't mean something has to happen. Sheldon asks whether she was hoping something would happen as its prom and Amy says she's always hoping, but tonight she just wants to have a nice time with him. When Sheldon thanks Amy for understanding, she begins to tell him something with the clear indication that he needn't feel pressured to say it back. Before Amy can get to her point, Sheldon says "I love you, too." Sheldon says there's no denying he has feelings for her that can't be explained in any other way. When it appears Amy is having a panic attack, Sheldon instructs her to lie down - just not in his bedroom.

After Penny's old prom dress brings up memories of their proms, the girls decide to recreate prom night on the roof of the apartment building. As Sheldon learns about prom customs, he worries that Amy will expect something to happen between them.

Raj: Ever since I saw Pretty in Pink, I've wanted to go to an American prom. But then I saw Carrie and did not want to go to an American prom. Then I saw Never Been Kissed and I'm back on the prom bandwagon. This prom things been a real rollercoaster.

Bernadette: Why can't he take your mom? You took her to your prom.Howard: I didn't take her. She was a chaperone.Bernadette: I saw a picture of you two dancing together.Howard: Well what was I gonna do? They were playing our song.

Amy: You went to seven proms?Penny: Yeah. Let's see, four "under the seas", two "enchanted evenings", and one night to remember - that I can not remember for the life of me.

Bernadette: How was your prom? Did you go?Amy: No, but I was on cleanup crew.Penny: Aw, that's sad.Amy: No, it was okay. The DJ let me dance one slow dance with my mop before he shut down. Whenever I see a bucket of dirty water, I still hear Lady in Red.

Amy: You're making me worry. What's going on?Sheldon: What's going is we're about to go to a prom and there's a great deal of pressure on young couples like us to engage in what Mr. Bob Eubanks called "makin' whoopee".

Raj: Did you go to your prom?Sheldon: No. I had a date with a proper education. Instead of a tuxedo, I dressed myself in good habits. Instead of spiked punch, I enjoyed the intoxicating flavor of knowledge. Instead of dancing in a gym, I shook my bootie to the seductive rhythms-Penny: Okay, okay.Sheldon: -of AP calculus.

Leonard: Was that a flask?Sheldon: Yes. I've decided to embrace all the traditions associated with prom, including spiking the punch.Leonard: You're gonna put alcohol in the punch?Sheldon: Oh, no, this is pomegranate juice. It's all the fun of high-school hijinks, with the self-protecting zip of anti-oxidants.

The episode aired on Thursday, November 6, 2014.

The girls decide to reenact their high school proms with their guys since no one except for Penny had memorable ones (Sheldon didn't even go to his). Howard is worried that Stuart will bring his mother, while Stuart actually brings the cousin to whom Howard lost his virginity.

Bernadette and Amy enter Penny's apartment with snacks for their movie. She also got a list of other things that they could use. Amy noticed all the clothes that were on her couch. Penny is cleaning out her closet since she needs room for all her new business clothes. Amy really wondered why she was even folding them now. Among other items, Amy comes across Penny's prom dress. Bernadette is amazed that she still has it and that it isn't balled up in the corner of a barn somewhere in Nebraska. Penny looks disturbed and wants to know what kind of teenager they thought she was. Amy says "easy" and Bernadette says "slutty". Penny corrects them and says that the term is "popular". Amy didn't go to her prom, but was on the clean-up crew. The DJ let her dance with her mop to "The Lady in Red". Bernadette's date liked her friend and he spent the whole prom talking about her. Amy is miffed because Bernadette had a date and a friend and wants her to stop bragging. Penny feels that proms are silly. Bernadette figures that she went with the captain of the football team. Penny denies it and only made out with him while his date got sick. Bernadette suggests that they have a prom do-over. They could fix up the roof, make the guys wear tuxedos, slow dance and fix up their hair. As someone who has been to seven proms, it is never as good as you want it to be. The themes were four "Under the Seas", two "Enchanted Evenings" and one "Night to Remember" which Penny ironically can't remember.

Howard joins, Leonard, Sheldon, Penny and Raj for take-out in Apartment 4A. The other girls are out dress shopping. Raj has wanted to go to a prom ever since he saw "Pretty in Pink" and then changed his mind after seeing "Carrie". He changed his mind again after seeing "Never Been Kissed". According to Howard, Bernadette is so excited that her voice got high enough for the beagle next door to start howling. Sheldon did not go to his prom because he had a date with a good education, and due to skipping middle school and high school. Penny thinks that the whole idea is lame. Leonard feels that it is neat to even go to a fake prom with a woman as beautiful as Penny. Penny is now unhappy because, thanks to Leonard, she can't blow the whole thing off without sounding like a bitch. 041b061a72
